Obtain and Use a Yahoo Domain

The Yahoo web domain service is sky rocketing in popularity with businesses everywhere. But if you're new to building a website and registering a domain name, yahoo domain can seem a bit intimidating. In this brief article I'll guide you through the process of obtaining and setting up your yahoo domain so you can get started growing your business online.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

To start, you choose the plan of your choice and sign up. Yahoo offers plans to meet virtually any commercial or personal website needs. Most plans are around $9 per year.

  2. Step 2

Next, pick out your domain name. Think about this long and hard. You want your name to be catchy, easy to remember and easy to spell. This will be the address that will show up in search engines and that people will use to find your site. An example would be: www.sample-site.com

  3. Step 3

Once your registration is complete, you can start getting to know the features of Yahoo Domains and their uses. Go over to your "business control panel" and then click "domain control panel". This will bring up a list of options for you to use in managing all of your yahoo domain services. You should see the following options:

Starter Web Page: Create or edit a basic web page for your web address
Forward Your Domain: Send visitors from your domain to another web site.
Set Up Email Address: Set up your domain name email address.
View/Edit Your Domain Registration: Review and update your WHOIS contact information
Manage Advanced DNS Settings: Set up CNAME, A Records, and MX records (for advanced users only).

  4. Step 4

When you register for a Yahoo Domain, you'll also receive free email address so that instead of your email address looking like this - manager@freemail.com, it will be more professional and look like this - manager@yourbusinessname.com

  5. Step 5

If you are still unsure about how to navigate through Yahoo Domains, don't worry. There are plenty of comprehensive tutorials available to guide you through each and every step.
